Mapping

Mapping

Render Toobar
Tools > Palettes > Tools Palettes OR Cntrl+3
Tools > Palettes > Materials
Command: VSMATERIALMODE, set to 2
View>Visual Styles>Realistic

From the Tool  Palette, Select a Material of choice
It will become active by appearing in Materials Palette
Click the Material Icon and drag onto Whole Object or
hold Control key while placing it on a specific surface of the object

To Edit a Material use command : MATERIALMAP

Planar Mapping

Render > Materials > Material Mapping > Box
Maps any solid object with controls for width, depth and height as well as rotation on all sides.
Sphere Mapping
Cone Icon
Render > Materials > Material Mapping > Spherical
Allows you to map any solid object, but uses rotation only.
Cylinder mapping
Cylinder Mapping
Render > Materials > Material Mapping > Cylindrical
Maps a solid object with height and rotation only.


B for editing entire object, Click on arrows to activate, click again to de-activate, other options are Move and Rotate Materials
P for editing surfaces, Hold Down Control Key to highlight a surface

To place a material onto Layers, use command : MATERIALATTACH

To create a new material, click NEW MATERIAL, and use the sliders to create different simple effects
Then apply a new surface texture of choice, locate a jpg image, then go to Diffuse Map on Materials Palette, ans Click Select Image

Use RENDER command to view images realistically

Choosing lines or plines to form a region vs. selecting internal point (BO).
REG REGION - selecting lines to define a region
(2nd option create lines to be a shape beside boundary)


Start creating walls immediately.
PSOLID - creating solid walls, set height, set width
     SET WIDTH
     SET HEIGHT



Create unusual surfaces by drawing a profile of your object.
REVSURF - revolve to create surfaces, use front/back view

Set the following:
SURFTAB1 - viewing of how many facets, how smooth the object looks = 24
SURFTAB2 - viewing of how many faces, how smooth the object looks = 24
 (1 is for REVSURF, 2 is for REVOLVE)
  1. SET VIEW TO FRONT VIEW
  2. DRAW A PLINE
  3. DRAW A SECOND LINE TO DEFINE AXIS OF ROTATION
  4. USE COMMAND REVSURF
    1. Select Object to revolve
    2. Select line of axis
    3. Keep default of rotation 0
    4. Set amount of revolution, up to 360

Create unusual forms by drawing a profile of your object. 
REVOLVE - revolve to create solid forms
SURFTAB1 - viewing of how many facets, how smooth the object looks = 24
SURFTAB2 - viewing of how many faces, how smooth the object looks = 24

  1. Create closed shape using PLINE and CLOSE the object.
  2. Use command REGION to select lines to form shape.
  3. Draw a second line to define axis of rotation
  4. Use REVOLVE command
    1. Select Object to revolve
    2. Select Object to use for rotation
    3. Set the revolution, up to 360

F7 - no gray (black screen) in model view

command: mv (model view) - to cut a hold on layer that we can see model view
double click in MV window (click in)
command: Z enter C enter - then click center of dwg - then type "PS scale factor" 1/(x)XP
command: pan ( hold the view)
command: ps (paper space) / ms (model space)
command: tm enter 1 enter OR 0 enter (TILEMODE - 1 is model space/ 0 is paper space)

In Class Notes & Units Limits

set the workspaces as AutoCAD classic
to save the workspace : click the up bar - save current workplaces (save as Template included units limits, it is the screen not image '.dwg')

left up : layer / right up: porperties
left bottom: styles / right bottom: workplaces
(earse other bars)

F2 to view command F2 again to hide the command window (F2 is the command history, it can save the command until close it)
close command window - Ctrl + 9 reopen the command window

L+enter - open Dynamic Input
OR click the bottom bar - Dynamic Input

delete item: left up and bottom corner - to get all of line in the square that high light (blue square)
                  right up and bottom corner - to get line which only in the square that highlight (green square)
make square to delete lines
high light the line then click the end point to move the line

right click anywhere, can get the recent input on the list

set up the screen limit, templat and file when use autocad

Project 1 - M C Escher and Class Notes

L LINE (every line has endpoint 'E' and midpoint 'M' - OSNAP / always can set the points / click a point bewteen endpoint and midpoint)
LA LAYER (means including name, color and linetype) (name has discipline 'AEMPSCI', e/n which means new using "-" and item '3or4 letter only, for example: Aewall/ A-flr/ Axwall) (color has line, thickness 1-7, 250-255 grayscale ) (linetype - we load the linetype to assign to layer)
M MIRROR (mirrior means reflection, can be vertically and horizontally)
we don't need to show inch, for example: 12feet - we type 12 only. 2feet5inches - we type 2'5
PL PLINE
PE PEDIT
T TRIM (cut, select the thing that you trim and you trim with)
XT EXTEND (click the middle of two points and the vertiacal line outside the horizontal line, then the horizontal line will be extended) (Edgemode is the command)
Z ZOOM (put Z+enterE+enter, the zoom extend. put Z+enter+enter, then zoom back to where you are)
when you click one point, second point and the third point, then the second point is the midpoint.
